The Secretary of State for Economy, João Neves, and the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante Dias, will travel to Milan, on September 6th and 7th, to participate in the Milan Furniture Fair, and in actions to promote national products, as part of the Tortona Design Week.
The national participation in this edition of the Milan Furniture Fair, one of the most important at international level, will be developed under the brand "MADE IN PORTUGAL Naturally", and will gather over 40 companies and nine national designers. The Association of the Wood and Furniture Industries of Portugal (AIMMP), the Portuguese Association of Furniture and Related Industries (APIMA), the Portuguese Association of Manufacturers of Marbles, Granites and Related Enterprises (Assimagra), and the Portuguese Lighting Association (AIPI) will also be present.
On September 6th, a Cooperation Protocol between the home cluster associations will be signed. This session will be attended by both Secretaries of State. This collaboration instrument is part of a set of actions promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – named Internationalization Roadmaps – which aim to strengthen cooperation in the business sector, inter-sector articulation in foreign markets and to enhance the positioning of national companies in international value chains.
In 2020, national exports from the home cluster reached 2 250.176 million euros. The Italian market is Portugal’s 6th largest customer. In the first six months of 2021, exports to that market totalled 1 617 million euros.
