Miguel Cruz has a PhD from London Business School, graduated in Economics at the Portuguese Catholic University and has both a master’s in management and an MBA in Finance from the same University.
Previously Chairman & CEO of Parpública, the Portuguese Holding of Public Participations, Miguel Cruz was also CEO of Circuito do Estoril, Chairman and CEO of Sagesecur, and Board Member of AdP – Águas de Portugal.
In the past, Miguel Cruz was President of IAPMEI, the Portuguese agency for SME, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Chairman and CEO of Agência de Inovação (the Portuguese Agency for Collaborative Innovation) and Chairman of Cedintec (Public Company for the promotion of Technological Innovation).
Miguel Cruz has also been Vice-President of SPGM – the Portuguese Mutal Guarantee holding – and President of the General Assembly of FNABA (Business Angels Federation), APCRI (Venture Capital Association), PME Investimentos (Investment Society for SME), Start-up Lisbon, AICEP – Global Parques (Management of Industrial Areas).
Miguel has also been President of the Supervisory Board of Portugal Capital Ventures.
Miguel Cruz worked as an economic journalist, participated in the creation of the Research for Capital Markets at Banco CISF (part of Millennium BCP), and was on the Board of the management teams for the implementation of European funded Incentive Schemes for the support of Companies (Energy, Services, Industry, SME’s). Miguel was also member of the Board of the Portuguese Department of Industry.
Since 1989, and until taking office in 2020, Miguel Cruz has collaborated with several Universities, particularly with the Portuguese Catholic University and Autonomous University of Lisbon, both in teaching and also collaborating with Research Centers.
Miguel Cruz is ambassador in Portugal for the Sustainable Development Objectives of the United Nations.
