The 14th High-Level Meeting between Portugal and Morocco held on 12 May at Palácio
Foz in Lisbon will be attended by the Minister of Science Technology and Higher
Education Elvira Fortunato.
The aim of the meeting is to deepen bilateral ties between both countries
and drive a Strategic Partnership between Portugal and Morocco in terms of political,
economic, and cultural cooperation, based on knowledge, social cohesion, and
economic development.
This is also an opportunity to hold a bilateral meeting between Minister
Elvira Fortunato and the Moroccan Minister of Higher Education, Scientific
Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, during which a Memorandum of Understanding
will be signed.
The aim of bilateral cooperation in the field of science, technology, and higher
education is to fund mobility and/or R&D and Innovation projects, namely in
the Mediterranean context (agriculture, water, energy), as well as cultural
heritage, nanoscience and technologies, the development of synergies between
higher educaiton and scientific institutes in both countries, deepening the Partnership
on Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Region (PRIMA) in the field of
agriculture and water management and a few Horizon Europe programmes, Morocco’s
engagement in the AIR Centre, among others.
