Secretary of State elected Vice-Chair of the Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport

The Secretary of State for Youth and Sport João Paulo Correia was elected Vice-Chair of the 7th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS VII), by acclamation following a proposal made by Germany for the Europe and North America region (region 1).

The MINEPS VII conference will be held as of Tuesday 27 June until Thursday 29 June in Baku (Azerbaijan). This is a UNESCO global conference that brings together Governments, athletes, the private sector and other stakeholders to boost investment in sport, encouraging physical education and expanding the positive impact of sports on health, society, and the economy. 

The role of sport as a tool to build more resilient, sustainable, and inclusive societies through the exchange of experiences will be discussed at this 7th conference, ending with the launch of a "Fit for life" alliance.

The previous edition of MINEPS (the 6th Conference) adopted the action plan that then became the framework for fostering sport policy, aligned with the 2030 Agenda and a fundamental component of the United Nations Action Plan on Sport for Development and Peace.
