The Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, stated that the two agreements signed by the labour authorities of Portugal and Luxembourg will bring "greater efficacy in protecting workers" from both countries.
"We signed two agreements with Luxembourg, one focused on cooperation in terms of labour inspection, for more cooperation between the labour inspectors in both countries, to ensure more efficacy in workers’ protection", Ana Mendes Godinho claimed at the end of the ceremony for signing the protocols, which featured Georges Engel, the Minister of Labour, Social Economy and Solidarity from Luxembourg.
"There are 95 thousand Portuguese people living in Luxembourg, so it is fundamental to have articulation to ensure better work conditions and monitoring those work conditions", she highlighted.
The other agreement is on "training and exchange in the context of the programmes we have developed, such as ‘UpSkill’, to exchange best practice and new ways of having training and reconversion for workers in the setting of the green and digital transition we’re experiencing", she noted.
The agreements signed "imply an exchange in training between both countries, in both directions, and the exchange of experiences, showing the model of the worker requalification programme in technology, together with tech companies", Ana Mendes Godinho concluded.
The protocols were signed by the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) and its counterpart Agence pour le Développement de l'Emploi (ADEM) and by the Labour Conditions Authority (ACT) and the Luxembourg Labour and Mines Inspectorate.
