Ana Sofia Antunes was born in Lisbon in 1981, but she grew up in Vale de Milhaços, Corroios.
She graduated in Law from the University of Lisbon School of Law in 2004.
She practiced in the fields of administrative, urbanistic and property law.
Legal counsel for the Mobility councillor at Lisbon Municipality from 2007 to 2013.
In 2010, she was also charged with the work for the Lisbon Accessibility on Foot Plan and she coordinated the respective Monitoring Committee.
Customer Ombudsman for the Lisbon Municipal Mobility and Parking Enterprise (EMEL) in 2013.
She was part of ACAPO, the Portuguese Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and was President of the Association’s National Directorate from 2013 to 2015.
She ran for member of parliament for the Socialist Party in the elections for 2015 and 2019 and was elected for the Lisbon circle in the latter.
At a local government level, she was municipal deputy for the Socialist Party in the Lisbon Council from 2009 to 2013, and Arganil Council from 2017 to 2021.
She was Secretary of State for Inclusion of Disabled Persons in Prime Minister António Costa’s first and second Governments.
