Presidency
Mariana Vieira da Silva was born in Lisbon in 1978.
Mariana Vieira da Silva has a degree in Sociology from ISCTE-IUL and concluded the curriculum section of a PhD in Public Policy at ISCTE. She is currently finishing a dissertation on health and education policies in Portugal.
She was a researcher at CIES-IUL in the field of public policy, health policy, education policy and justice policy, and published several papers in these areas. She was also a trainer at INA and IPPS-IUL.
Mariana Vieira da Silva was Assistant to the Secretary of State Assistant to the Prime Minister and had previously worked as Advisor to the Minister of Education Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues from 2005 to 2009.
She was part of the steering team for the Public Policy Forum at ISCTE and member of the Descobrir Advisory Board – The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Programme for Culture and Science.
During Prime Minister António Costa’s 1st Government she was Secretary of State Assistant to the Prime Minister from November 2015 to February 2019, and Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernisation from February to October 2019.
During António Costa’s 2nd Government she was Minister of the State and Presidency, since October 2019.
