Frederico Francisco was born in Cascais in 1986.
He has a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering (2009, Instituto Superior Técnico) and a PhD in Physics (2014, Instituto Superior Técnico).
He is guest assistant professor at the Physics and Astronomy department of the Porto University School of Science. He is a researcher at the Physics Centre of Minho and Porto Universities, where he was a post-doctoral fellow from 2017 to 2019.
His doctoral thesis with the title "Trajectory Anomalies in Interplanetary Spacecraft" won "Springer Theses" prize from Springer-Verlag and was published in a book format by the same publisher.
He was awarded the Zeldovich 2018 medal by the Russian Science Academy and COSPAR (Commission on Space Research).
He has carried out research work on rail transport, where he took part in national and European projects.
He has also been involved in developing physical models for the Terrestrial System.
He has over a dozen papers published in international journals with scientific review, a technical book published by an international publisher and several presentations and publications in minutes of international conferences.
From 2019 to 2023 he was assistant at the Cabinet of the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, where he followed the policies on rail transport, including coordinating the drafting of the National Rail Plan.
