Fernando Alexandre, the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, travels to Maputo to attend the 3rd Meeting of Portuguese Schools Abroad, which focuses this year on "Building Bridges Towards Cultural Democracy – Challenges and Opportunities for Portuguese Schools Abroad".
On Tuesday 7 May at 4 pm, the Minister will visit the Portuguese School of Mozambique – Portuguese Teaching and Language Centre and later, at 6:30 pm, he will give a speech at the Portuguese Cultural Centre Gallery.
Alongside the event, on the 8th, there will be bilateral meetings with the Mozambican counterparts of Education and Human Development, Carmelita Rita Namashulua, and Science, Technology and Higher Education, Daniel Daniel Nivagara, starting at 9 am.
At 2:30 pm, the Minister will speak at the closing session of the 3rd Meeting.
The meeting will enable narrowing and affirming the ties of cooperation and friendship that bring the Portuguese Schools Abroad socio-educational community together, enhancing dialogue and the exchange of knowledge, challenges, and opportunities. It will also be a celebration of Portuguese Language Day as a cultural heritage, promoting its dissemination.
The network of Portuguese Schools Abroad currently has 27 schools throughout 6 countries, where 949 teachers teach the Portuguese curriculum in Portuguese to 11 647 children and youths from pre-school up to basic and secondary education.
