Pope Francis passed away

Francis was an outstanding Pope who leaves behind a unique legacy of humanism, empathy, compassion and closeness to the people.

His visits to Portugal to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of Our Lady’s apparitions in Fátima and for the World Youth Days had an impact in our country and created a very strong connection between the Portuguese people and the Holy Father.

I offer the Portuguese Government’s heartfelt condolences to the Holy See and all the Catholics throughout the world, among whom are millions of Portuguese.

The best way to honour his legacy is by following his teachings and example in our everyday life and activities.
