A total 420-million-euro investment package, which represents creating more than one thousand jobs in six different areas was approved in 2024, was set up via the Foreign Trade and Investment Agency (AICEP).

In addition to the one thousand jobs to be created, the projects covered under this investment package will also enable the allocation of more than 600 highly qualified workers to technological research and development activities. 

The expressive boost in investment will allow the Portuguese economy to start 2025 with a good outlook to create value and jobs in a challenging external setting.

"This important set of investments in strategic sectors and with a strong creation of qualified jobs are proof of the investors’ confidence in the Portuguese economy and an investment in our future", the Minister of Economy Pedro Reis stressed.

Of the investment package, we note the following:

• Amkor Technology: 150 million euros to boost the factory capabilities in Vila do Conde.

• West Horse Powertrain Portugal: 47 million to boost production capability at the factory located in Cacia.

• Bosch Car Multimedia: 26 million euros to develop innovative technology and electronics solutions.

• Vicaima – Indústria de Madeira e Derivados: 28 million euros to increase the factory’s capacity, located in Vale de Cambra.

• Pharmaceutical and IT industries applied to healthcare, Medinfar, BIAL, and Glint, with investments of around 47 million euros.

The investments now taken on are in addition to other initiatives under way: 

• The Stellantis Mangualde unit began production of electric vehicles in October following an overall investment of 119 million euros. 

• Bosch opened its Sustainable Climate Solutions Research and Development Laboratory, with a 35-million-euro investment.

And Lufthansa Tecnik announced the setup of an aircraft engine parts and components repair factory in Santa Maria da Feira, Aveiro district.
