The President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa swore in the Government headed by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, in a ceremony held at Ajuda National Palace in Lisbon. 

 In addition to the Prime Minister, 17 ministers took office:

• Paulo Rangel, Ministro of State and Foreign Affairs
• Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, Minister of State and Finance
• António Leitão Amaro, Minister of the Presidency
• Manuel Castro Almeida, Minister in the Cabinet of the Prime Minister and Territorial Cohesion
• Pedro Duarte, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs
• Nuno Melo, Minister of National Defence
• Rita Júdice, Minister of Justice
• Margarida Blasco, Minister of Home Affairs
• Fernando Alexandre, Minister of Education, Science and Innovation
• Ana Paula Martins, Minister of Health
• Miguel Pinto Luz, Minister of Infrastructure and Housing
• Pedro Reis, Minister of Economy
• Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho, Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social       Security
• Maria da Graça Carvalho, Minister of Environment and Energy
• Margarida Balseiro Lopes, Minister of Youth and Modernisation
• José Manuel Fernandes, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries
• Dalila Rodrigues, Minister of Culture.

The Government will now present its programme in Parliament.
