Programme accelerates research transformation in tech firms

The applications to Tech Foundry Portugal – Deep Tech Edition are now open. This is a national acceleration programme that will support up to 40 science and technology teams in the transition to research for the market and industrialisation.

The deadline for submitting applications ends on 3 July and the results will be reported by the end of the month.

This is an acceleration programme for university teams, R&D centres, and science-based start-ups with verified technologies in a laboratory context or relevant environment (TRL 4-5) that wish to accelerate their entry in the market in areas such as:

• biotech and health technology
• artificial intelligence
• advanced materials and nanotechnology
• ocean and marine technology
• climate and clean energy technology
• advanced and electronic computing
• space and aeronautics
• robotics and unmanned systems
• dual use technology
• and technology for Public Administration.

The programme is held between September and December 2026, in a hybrid format in Porto, offering participants access to an international network of investors, experts, and industrial partners.

“Portugal today has a solid scientific basis renowned internationally. The challenge is to transform this knowledge into innovation with an economic impact”, claimed the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion. Castro Almeida added that “Tech Foundry Portugal is a strategic instrument to accelerate this transition, bringing science, industry, and capital closer”.

Throughout the programme, the participants will have access to a structured path focused on three critical dimensions: transforming technology into market solutions, developing a business model, and preparing for investment.

Practical training courses are set, as well as tailor-made mentoring, collaborative learning sessions, and a final Demo Day with investors and sector representatives. Tech Foundry Portugal complements the Deeptech & Tech Foundry Ecosystem Facility launched at the end of 2025 under the Financial Instrument for Innovation and Competitiveness (IFIC) and is developed by Startup Portugal in partnership with Hello Tomorrow, enabling access to a deep tech international community with more than 5 000 startups, a presence in over 100 countries and a network of around 1 300 specialised investors.
