RRF: Portugal submits 8th payment request to the European Commission

Portugal submitted to the European Commission the 8th request for payment under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), pursuing the schedule agreed on with Brussels, confirmation of the Facility’s good execution pace.

The request now presented includes 22 milestones and targets set in the Council’s Implementation Decision (CID) (prior adjustment), to which 14 milestones and targets submitted before schedule are added, to a total of 36, which move to the 9th and 10th payment requests. This anticipation confirms Portugal’s implementation capacity and meeting the commitments undertaken under the RRF.

At the same time, Portugal submitted to the European Commission on 31 October the Revision to Simplify the RRF, an adjustment to ensure the full execution of all the milestones and targets by 31 August 2026

"The Government maintains its commitment to efficient and transparent execution within the set deadlines. The anticipation of milestones and targets demonstrates stability, rigour, and a responsible management of European funds", stated the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion Castro Almeida.

With this 8th payment request, submitted after the European Commission’s positive assessment of the 7th payment request, Portugal maintains a top position among the Member States with best RRF performance.

"We continue to comply and present concrete results. We continue our work to implement the reforms and investments set in the full conviction that we will completely meet this important plan", Castro Almeida indicates.
