«To talk about the European peace utopia – and to do so sitting next to Mary Kaldor – requires that we start by reframing the security challenges we face today. It is a cliché to say that the challenges are new, dynamic, hybrid or multifaceted. In a way this has often been the case: new generations always think that their challenges are new. But here I think that there is a very real point that we must address, because talking about delivering and promoting peace requires us to have a clear view of the nature of contemporary threats to peace.»
