RRF payments have gone past the 3-billion-euro mark

Payments made to direct and end recipients of the Recovery and Resilience Facility went above the 3-billion-euro mark this week, which represents an increase of around 60% in the last six months.

According to the monitoring report of 22 November, investment approvals are at 15.1 billion euros, which is 90% of the allocation agreed on between the Recovering Portugal Mission Structure and the recipients. This report already accounts for the updated information from the RRF reprogramming approved on 17 October, with a 22.2-billion-euro allocation.

Companies are still the recipients who have received the most payments since the start of the RRF to an amount of 981 million euros, which accounts for 32% of the sums paid.

Concerning the payments made, we note public bodies, state enterprises, and schools, which have already received €784M, €371M, and €269M, respectively. The remainder has been distributed among municipalities and metropolitan areas (€199M), households (€155M), higher educaiton institutions (€147M), institutions from the solidary and social economy (€70M), and science and technology institutions (€61M).

Broken down by area of intervention, assistance to investment and innovation account for the greatest sums of payments received at 798 million euros, followed by housing (€285M), schools’ digital transition (€283M), boosting skills and qualifications (€269M) and sustainable mobility projects and road infrastructure to the sum of 257 million euros.

At this time, new investments set under the RRF reprogramming are under the agreement process, which is to be concluded in the coming weeks, meaning new bids for tender will be launched for the presentation of new projects.
