Ana Povo has a medical degree from the Abel Salazar
Biomedical Science Institute at Porto University and a PhD in Medicine from Porto
University Medical School. She also holds an MBA in Health Organisations and
Systems from Fernando Pessoa University.
She chaired the Board of Directors of the ICBAS-CHP
Clinical Academic Centre and Hospital Assistant graduated in General Surgery at
the Santo António University Hospital Centre.
During her training she interned at St.
Marks Hospital in London, UK, the Mayo Clinic in, USA, and Erlangen University,
Germany, where she carried out part of her PhD.
Furthermore, she is associate guest professor
at the Abel Salazar Biomedical Science Institute at Porto University, where she
is also a member of the scientific board, the scientific committee for the
integrated master’s in medicine, the mixed committee and the pedagogical
committee of undergraduate schooling at the Santo António/ICBAS University
Hospital Centre. She is also associate guest professor at Fernando Pessoa
University.
In addition, she is member of the
Committee to Assess Medical Technologies at Infarmed and sits on the Expert
Panel to Assess Medical Devices at the European Medicines Agency.
Since 2023 she has been a member of the
Medical Association Disciplinary Council for the Regional North Section and in
a previous term was member of the assembly of representatives of the Medical Association.
She was also member of the board of the
Portuguese Association for Minimally Invasive Surgery and member of the
Supervisory Board of the Portuguese Coloproctology Association.
