José Maria Brandão de Brito concluded the Economics degree at ISEG-UTL in 1994, after which he joined the Research Department of the Monetary Authority of Macau.
He obtained a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of Birmingham with a thesis on monetary and financial topics.
Back in Portugal, he spent 6 years as a research economist at the Bank of Portugal and published papers on trade and monetary economics in international refereed journals.
In 2006, he moved to Millenniumbcp, where he held the position of chief economist and head of sustainability and cryptoassets.
He has published several op-ed articles in local and international newspapers, including the "Financial Times" and the "Handelsblatt".
